The process used to create this unit was Understanding by Design/ Backwards Design. This process requires thought about what you, as a teacher, would want your students to know when the unit is finished. Working backwards to create enduring understandings, essential questions, differentiation, and assessment procedure before actually creating lesson plans. Additionally listening, reading, and writing lessons as well as technology enhancements were integrated into these lessons. I found using this process to be extremely effective in creating a seamless unit with clear expectations and learning outcomes for the students. This process discourages lessons that don't have a skill and real life lessons emerging from them. It encourages planning a unit at a time not just a lesson at a time. I found this extremely helpful in in guiding me to think about the bigger picture not just the unit I am covering now.
